The backrest features gold-tone text that reads, "The Dirksen Chair / Bradley University / Gerald Ford '76." The back of the chair stenciled "Ethan Allen / Liberty Tree." It was sent to the Ford Family from the Adams Furniture Company in Peoria, Illinois.
